“The world is ending, are you really starting a blog?” I thought to myself as I procrastinated on starting this blog.
I wanted to start this blog/newsletter a few months ago, and to be honest, I had been thinking about it for a few years. It was something (like many things-ahh my neurospicy brain) I wanted to start, but something in me just couldn’t do it. It seems so silly, no? that something so simple and I really wanted was hard to do, but isn’t so much of life that? Okay, see this is why I don’t write, I am full of cheesiness (big feeling queer being here).
Procrastination is not always or often our nervous system telling us we don’t want something, but that it means something to us that we are scared of fucking it up or what others might think, especially when it comes to putting our sacred medicine + gifts out in this cruel and beautiful world. Given the magnitude of harm and pain we are witnessing in Palestine, Congo, Sudan, our homelands, right here on Turtle Island, our tasks and desires seem so mundane and unimportant. Many of us are trying to do some action (of course, it never feels enough) for building new worlds-our energy can be a limited resource, and we might be in a constant stress response. Many folks are stuck on the never-ending demand of this capitalist hellscape. So, of course, we are procrastinating on the things we really want.
I do think our medicines and gifts are a part of the antidote during political unrest. They are what connect us to our source, the collective, our well ancestors and guides.
So here I am with a first blog post about how long it took me to do this (and a few new offerings with a discount available at the end of this blog), and I hope it serves as a reminder to you that it isn’t too late to put your medicines and gifts out there, in whatever form. It doesn’t need to be perfect or even close to it. You are allowed to make mistakes (and it’s a big fuck you to colonialism when you show up imperfect and you). If you’re seeing this, I hope you do take this as your divine sign to start.
