FAQS

Psychotherapy

What does the initial meet and greet consist of?

The initial meet and greet is a 15 minute complimentary video chat to see if we vibe. We can discuss your therapy visions, what brings you to therapy, and what your hopes are. This is an opportunity to get to know one another and see if we make a good fit. It usually takes more than 15 minutes to build a connection but you can ask any questions during this time before we book an initial orientation session.

Do you accept insurance?

I will provide you with an invoice after each session that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Please clarify with your insurance that my services are covered. Your invoice will have the following information: Date of session-Individual Therapy Session- 50 Minutes. Merwareed Mona Fakhry Registered Psychotherapist. License #12238,

Do you offer a sliding scale?

Yes, however, my fees are based on an anti-oppressive scale. View the fees page to learn more.

Are you accepting new clients?

Yes, I am currently accepting new clients. Schedule a meet and greet here.

How does virtual therapy work?

Our sessions will be on a secure tele-health platform (PIPEDA compliant) through video chat which is user-friendly. I am committed to making you feel as safe as possible. When we begin working together we will continually discuss how to keep your information safe.

How often do I go to therapy? How does it work?

This is dependent on each individual. Typically attending consistently either weekly or biweekly may be helpful for you, especially at the beginning of our work. What’s important to remember is therapy takes time and consistency. We can chat more about this in the meet and greet!

How do you view therapy?

I like to think we are each alchemist of our own therapy/healing road and I am merely a guide with you on that journey. I am not here to tell you what to do but to support you in your healing journey and help you tap into your inner and community strengths. I often tell clients therapy works if you do. Meaning we often get what we put into the work. A lot of therapy work happens between therapy sessions. I view therapy in a non-western lens that sees the human as a whole being and in the existence of all beings (human and more than human kin).

Do you feel comfortable answering questions about yourself?

I welcome all questions! Therapy is a space for the awkward and uncomfortable questions (along with all sorts of questions). You are welcome to ask me personal questions and if I ever feel like I don’t want to answer something I will practice boundary setting with you! Some example questions you may want to ask could include: How do you practice anti-racism? What are your political views? How do you work to dismantle white supremacy? Do you attend your own therapy? Etc!

Coaching

How is therapy different than coaching?

Coaching and therapy are different in many ways! Therapy usually consists of deep processing and healing. Most times coaching does not focus on mental health at all. Coaching is usually goal-centered and future-oriented. Therapy can include elements of coaching depending on the therapist’s framework. Coaching usually does not include elements of therapy.

What if I reach my goals before all the follow-up sessions are used? (Coaching Package)

We can chat about the next steps in supporting you in maintaining your goals. Depending on how many sessions we have left we could even set some new goals to support you!
